Our Goals

CCETS is a group of volunteers dedicated to the growth and management of this Horse Trail System in Cherry Creek, Chautauqua County, New York. We enhance and maintain the trails for sustainability for public use on State, County, Town and Private Lands. We are a destination trail system, taking you in to Cherry Creek for Ice Cream, breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Miles of Trail

Over 30 miles when Phase 4 is completed- DEC trail disc markers are used on state forest. Trails utilize color coding on both state and private trail along with signage.  Trails are open June 1-September 30 annually and traverse across state and private lands. Please be respectful and stay on the designated trail at all times. From October 1 – 30 the Ruttenbur Trailhead to Boutwell Hill Road Trailhead is open.

Please make sure to sign in on the Trail Register and state CCETS (numbers and usage are what help get us funding)

Skill Level

Suitable for all levels of riders – Beginners to Advanced. Wooded with a minimum of elevation changes to more challenging trails.

Footing

Natural wood’s soil and installed gravel in improved areas, shoes are recommended, due to some rocks.

Water

At Cherry Creek Park and some streams (weather dependent).

Accessibility

Some hills to climb – at this time we do not have a ADA Ramp (Funding Required To Complete)

Fee

There is no fee associated with using our trail.

Camping on DEC Lands

No designated camping sites. Camping is allowed 150 feet from Roads, Trails and Waterbodies on the state forest lands only. Private lands there is no camping allowed. This is a carry-in, carry-out area, so please scatter manure and hay and keep area clean. No generators 10pm-7am.
